So the BBC has said it won't talk to the unions 'under duress' and have cancelled all national level meetings. In BBC terms this is a big step. The equivalent of a errant schoolboy taking his ball away. The reason for their anxiety seems to be the fact that Union representatives have announced preparations for a strike ballot. The sad part is, I don't think the authors realise the irony. With two and a half thousand members threatened with dismissal, an undeniable drop in quality and a planned radical deterioration in staff conditions, it must be very stressful these days being a corporate manager.
