The NUJ's BBC London branch got together this lunchtime and passed a resolution condemning the lack of consultation with the unions over BBC cuts. The crowded meeting listened with growing anger to tales from different parts of BBC News. One described hearing about a journalism board which would draw up a hit list of people at risk of redundancy. Those targeted would then be invited before the board to argue for their jobs. Another department had been asked to come up with its own ideas for selecting people. The mood of the meeting was resolute in its opposition to attacks on the BBC. Members want to be consulted over the future of their organisation not handed down mistaken tablets of stone.
