Someone is suggesting that journalists should be paid according to the amount of page impressions generated by their copy; This would encourage writers to weave the words Britney Spears into every story they publish. In a similar way, television production has been corrupted in a search for ratings at the expense of quality, leading to the rise of endless reality programmes and formats for formats sake. A proliferation of channels is seen as a good thing - and choice is now available in a way that was unthinkable years ago. However, with so much output to fill, budgets increasingly stretched and audiences in decline, do we have too much TV?
