Real trouble today for the BBC. The latest crisis highlights a number of issues, not just for the BBC, but for the industry as a whole. Casualisation is, in part, to blame. A relentless drive to get more for less, whether its putting junior staff in positions of responsibility before they're ready or competitive pressure to drive costs downwards, these all contribute Micheal Grade says short term contracts are to blame. Great, no more fixed term contracts at ITV then.
The thing is, if you stretch people to breaking point should you really be surprised if some of them break?
